The Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo, has harvested the remnants of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) left in Owan East local government area.
The group was led by Engr. Dr. Festus Owu, former Vice Chairman, and former Secretary of Owan East Local Govt Council, along with Mallam Suberu Kassim Shaibu and Hon. Abdulmumuni Bello, the immediate speaker of Owan East Council.
They stated that they have chosen to desert the misdemeanors of the governor and his godson, Mr. Asue Ighodala, because, to them, his godson, who they barely know in Edo State politics, is most likely not going to do anything better than what his godfather is doing right now in Edo State.
Speaking further, they expressed belief that God has heard the cry of Edo people and has finally answered by sending Okpebholo to undertake the task. They highlighted their respect and regard for the APC candidate, citing his track record of winning the Esan Senatorial district and becoming the first Senator elected under the platform of APC since the inception of the party.
Other leaders present took time to eulogize the candidate, emphasizing his humility and sincerity of purpose, which they believe have paved the way for him. They concluded that it has become an undeniable fact that God’s hand is in this project and in his life. Therefore, they are committed to following the individual whom God has already anointed to lead Edo to the promised land.
Engr. Dr. Festus Owu acknowledged the fact that APC has always won Owan East before now. Still, they have come to add to the margin of victory so their votes would be part of the votes that would send Obaseki and his godson back to where he came from. He emphasized that Obaseki can not practice godfatherism in Edo State, as it goes against what they have agreed to forbid.
