President Bola Tinubu has warned ethnic agitators threatening the sovereignty and unity of Nigeria, saying they would be made to face the full consequences of their actions.

He issued the warning against the backdrop of the invasion of the Oyo State House of Assembly Complex in Agodi, Ibadan, by Yoruba Nation agitators.

In a viral video clip, the agitators, decked in camouflage and armed with weapons, declared the independence of the ‘Democratic Republic of the Yoruba’.

A statement by presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale said Tinubu reacted to the incident during a meeting with leaders of Yoruba socio-cultural body, Afenifere, led by Pa Reuben Fasoranti.

Tinubu warned: “Those who think they can threaten the sovereignty of Nigeria will have themselves to blame.

“They have a price to pay and we are not going to relent.”

Tinubu also said his administration had recorded significant progress against insurgency where it exists in the country, adding that he would not relent in the fight against criminals.
