The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has stated that renovating the Third Mainland and Carter bridges in Lagos will cost N21 billion and N25 billion, respectively.
Umahi made the announcement during a Friday tour of critical infrastructure projects in Lagos with the National Assembly Joint Committee on Works.
The Minister stated that an emergency declaration is required for the two bridges to avoid an N6 trillion rebuilding expense.
He warned of the substantial financial and safety risks posed by the continued delays of the rehabilitation works.
“The cost of rehabilitation of the Third Mainland Bridge is estimated at N21 billion.
“…I want the National Assembly to note that this is the worst of our challenges on these two bridges. The cost of rehabilitation of Carter Bridge is N25 billion”, he stated.
