As the 2024 Edo State Governorship electioneering continues, Earl Osaro ONAIWU, Governorship Aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, has issued a stern caution to Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, to stop defending irresponsible people and irregularities concerning the recent primaries in Edo State.

In a recent statement, Onaiwu expressed his disappointment with Ologunagba’s defence of a primary election that saw eight out of the ten candidates who purchased nomination forms pull out due to glaring irregularities.

Onaiwu believes it is unjustified for an outsider to declare the primary fair when there is substantial evidence indicating the contrary. “It is a slap on us, the people of Edo State, for him to claim that the primary was fair and assert that Asue is the best candidate while disregarding the widely reported parallel primary,” said Onaiwu.

“Saying Asue is the best is a total disrespect to Edo people who have laboured for the PDP over the years.”Onaiwu went on to caution the PDP’s spokesperson, stating that if Ologunagba continues to defend the indefensible, he will be left with no choice but to reveal what he knows about certain members of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) on the role they played to perpetrate irregularities in the Edo state Primaries.

The Appeal panel indicted them seriously. Mr Ologunagba should read the report. As a devoted member of the PDP and a governorship aspirant, Earl Osaro ONAIWU strongly believes in fairness, transparency, and the rule of law.

He maintains that the interests of the people of Edo State must be protected above all else. The PDP in Edo State has a responsibility to uphold the principles of democracy and ensure that all processes leading to the forthcoming governorship election are conducted transparently and by the party’s guidelines.ONAIWU hopes that the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary will reconsider his stance and take seriously the concerns raised by the people of Edo State.

The party must rebuild trust and confidence among its members and the electorate. As the gubernatorial election in Edo State draws nearer, ONAIWU reaffirms its commitment to promoting a fair and just democratic process for the benefit of all citizens.
