Senator Monday Okpebholo, popularly known as Akpakomiza, has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship rerun primary election held on Thursday in Edo State.

Okpebholo, who currently represents Edo Central at the Senate, defeated another lawmaker, Dennis Idahosa in the election held across the 192 Wards in Edo, following the declaration of the last primary as inconclusive by the APC National Working Committee.

He will now fly the APC flag for the Edo 2024 Governorship Election coming up September 21st.

Ize-Iyamu congratulates APC candidate

Meanwhile, a former governorship candidate of the APC in the Edo 2020 gubernatorial election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has congratulated Senator Okpebholo for his performance in the just concluded primary and subsequent nomination as the APC candidate.

“Acknowledging your hard work, tenacity, commitment, and perseverance, this victory underscores your significant acceptability within the APC family, reflecting the trust and confidence we all place in you. I am optimistic that your emergence as the candidate will not only reignite the hope of ordinary Edo people but also encourage them to elect you as their next Governor come September 2024.

“Congratulations to all other contestants as well. Through this election, you have solidified your reputation and deepened your resolve to advance our beloved state.

“As we transit into the next phase of the campaign, I encourage you to embrace unity of purpose and determination. I urge the Edo APC family to unite and work cohesively as a formidable team to democratically replace the PDP-led administration in the state.
