Following hunger and starvation in Kano due to high prices of essential commodities, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has said he will personally visit President Bola Tinubu to report on the situation in the city.

“I’m going to personally report the devastating hunger and starvation, coupled with rising prices of essential commodities in Kano, with a view for the President to intervene and help bring succor to the people,” he said.

The governor stated this during a meeting with the business community and other stakeholders at the Government House, Kano, on Monday.

Speaking on his administration’s plans to tackle economic challenges in the state, he added,
“One of the measures we are considering is the streamlining of tax collection to allow businesses thrive in Kano, so that instead of every hour collectors are busy disturbing members of the business community, they should pay either monthly.”

He said the rate at which the cost of foodstuff and other daily needs is rising was alarming, hence the urgent need to put heads together with a view to finding lasting solution to the menace .
