The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has vowed he would never allow kidnappers be granted bail.
Wike said he would ensure that kidnappers caught are punished in accordance with the law.
He spoke during a security town hall meeting at the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, on Friday.
However, Wike said: “Gone were the days when kidnappers would be granted bail. I will not allow it again. We will ensure that the kidnapper is punished. How will a kidnapper be granted bail?”
Lately, kidnappers have unleashed terror on residents of the federal capital with people abducted from their homes.
Meanwhile, the police had said its men attached to the anti-kidnapping unit and the Rubochi Division Police Headquarters have rescued 14 abducted victims.
A statement by the spokesperson of the command, SP Josephine Adeh said the operation took place on Wednesday.
She said the successful operation followed the continued fight against kidnapping in the nation’s capital city.
