The 2023 Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Awards were held on Monday night in Marrakech, Morocco.

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen was named Player of the Year, ahead of Morocco full-back Achraf Hakimi and Egypt striker Mohammed Salah.

The Super Eagles superstar claimed the prize for leading Napoli’s league title triumph last term.

Osimhen’s compatriot, Asisat Oshoala, won CAF’s Women’s Player of the Year for a record sixth time after inspiring Barcelona to Champions League glory.

The 29-year-old beat South African Thembi Kgatlana and Zambia’s Barbara Banda to retain her crown at Monday’s awards gala in Marrakech.

Oshoala’s teammate, Chiamaka Nnadozie, clinched her first-ever CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award.

South African senior women’s national team coach, Desiree Ellis, who guided the team to their first-ever Total Energies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and second FIFA Women’s World Cup appearance, retains the same accolade she won in 2018, 2019, and 2022.

Moroccan hero, Yassine Bounou, won the CAF award for Best African Goalkeeper, ahead of Andre Onana of Cameroon and Egypt’s Mohamed El-Shenawy.

His national team coach, Walid Regragui, was named the winner in the men’s category after guiding his country to a historic World Cup semi-final run in Qatar.
