The Bayelsa State governor, Chief Duoye Diri, has been declared winner of state governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The election, one of the three off-season polls, was conducted last Saturday by the INEC.
Diri, candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) cleared six of eight local government areas in the state.
While, Sylva got only two. He’s former governor of the state and also former minister of state, petroleum resources.
The INEC Returning Officer for the election, Prof Faruq Kuta, announced the final scores.
He said Diri polled 175,196 votes, while Sylva garnered 110,108.
The governor defected Sylva with 65,088 votes.
