A 40ft container fell on top of a Toyota Corolla car with registration number JJJ 811 FB at the top Ojuelegba bridge inwards Stadium.

Joint operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the police and other emergency responders on Sunday night rescued three victims from a car trapped by an articulated vehicle at Ojuelegba Inward Stadium on Funsho Williams Avenue, Surulere area of Lagos state.

The LASTMA Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq, who made this known in a statement on Monday morning said that the traffic officer, Olajide Olukoga, who led the rescue operations at the scene of the accident confirmed that a 40ft container fell on top of a Toyota Corolla car with registration number JJJ 811 FB at the top Ojuelegba bridge inwards Stadium.

Olukoga further confirmed that out of the three victims rescued from the car, only one male came out unhurt and was allowed to go home immediately, while the remaining two victims – an adult male and a female – were rushed to an undisclosed hospital by an ambulance belonging to LASEMA.

Taofiq further stated that policemen from the Surulere Police Division were on the scene to provide adequate security, adding that the entire Ojuelegba bridge inward Stadium was temporarily closed and traffic was diverted to the service lane by LASTMA as rescue and recovery operations were ongoing.
