IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the inspector general of police, has denounced the brutal killing of Bako Angbashim, the divisional police officer for Rivers State’s Ahoada Division.

As previously reported by Newsmen gunmen harassing the neighborhood on Friday night murdered the DPO.

A viral video purports that the mutilated DPO was ridiculed and brutally killed by the armed criminals who also dismembered the body.

According to reports, the DPO was slain in the region while conducting an operation with his troops.

In response, the IGP ordered the arrest and prosecution of the offenders in a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

The IGP noted that “such an act is not only an affront on the national status but also a reflection of lack of patriotism and gross illegality”.

He emphasized that such nefarious acts against any operative in the country will not be taken with levity, stressing that all the perpetrators will be caused to face the full wrath of the law.

The IGP extended his condolences to the grieving family, dedicated colleagues, and friends of SP Bako Angbashim, urging them to embody his dedication, humility, and selflessness.
