Bendel Insurance Football Club (FC) of Edo State have landed in Algeria for the return leg game against Aso Chlef Football Club (FC) of Algeria in the 2023/2024 CAF Confederation Cup Preliminary Round match scheduled for tomorrow Saturday, 26th August, 2023.
Recall that the Bendel Insurance FC players on Wednesday departed the Benin Airport for Lagos before taking their connecting flight to Algeria — Air Algeria — which touched down in Algeria late Friday afternoon (Nigerian time).
The Benin Arsenals are heading into the return-leg with a home win advantage after defeating visiting Aso Chlef of Algeria by 1-0 in the first leg of the 2023/2024 CAF Confederation Cup Preliminary Round match played last Saturday, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki led top government functionaries to bid the team farewell ahead of their departure from the Benin Airport as they traveled to Algeria for the match.
At the airport, the Governor charged the Bendel Insurance FC team to go for victory as they travel to Algeria for the return leg game against Aso Chlef FC of Algeria, scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday).
“You have nothing to lose in this encounter but everything to gain. They are old men, and I know they don’t have stamina. I am here to see you, motivate you, and ensure you are in good spirits,” Obaseki said.
The governor urged them to follow the instructions of the team coach, Monday Odigie as well as his game plan, which had helped the team remain unbeaten throughout the just-concluded season in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
“Follow the instructions of your Coach. You know you have not lost any matches this season. I know you will not lose this one, good luck. Something is waiting for you when you return from Algeria, just put in your best and make us all proud,” Obaseki charged.
