Amaka Okonkwo, a Landlady, is accused of pouring boiling water mixed with pepper on her renter due to her inability to pay rent.

The tenant, Imabong William, had been handed a vacate notice due to her inability to pay a new rent imposed on residents in the building but had requested time to locate a new apartment before her landlady threw boiling water mixed with pepper on her.

The event occurred on Thursday in the Enugwu-Ukwu village of the state’s Njikoka Local Government Area.

According to community sources, the victim, who is from Akwa Ibom State, is already being treated at an unknown hospital after being rescued by neighbors.

Amaka, her landlord, had also been detained by police after neighbors reported her actions to the Nimo police station.

Mrs. Ify Obinabo, the Anambra State Commissioner for Women’s Affairs, who visited the victim, revealed that the victim stated that she was ordered to evacuate the residence due to her inability to pay the new rent rise.

She said that she had requested some time to find a new house, but on Thursday, when she was washing her clothes, the alleged landlady splashed boiling water laced with pepper on her from behind.

Obinabo expressed her displeasure over the incident and promised to get justice for the victim.
