The 11-week break has now come to an end.

Today, August 11, 2023, the much anticipated English Premier League season officially begins.

With only a few hours till kickoff, Nigerian football fans are ready and are savoring the ecstasy of the world’s most watched and exciting football league.

At 8 o’clock, Manchester City and Burnley play their first game. The reigning champions will be closely watched to see how they respond after losing to Arsenal in the Community Shield.

The treble-winning team of Pep Guardiola will go to Turf Moor to take against the recently promoted team led by City star Vincent Kompany.

City start their quest for their sixth trophy in seven years and fourth in a row. They would thus try to score as many points as possible before their key competitors kick the ball.

Burnley, on the other hand, will challenge the champions since their pride is on the line.

Arsenal, who finished second a year ago after dominating for large portions of the season, will play Nottingham Forest on Saturday at 12.30 pm.

By 3 o’clock, Bournemouth will play West Ham, Brighton will play Luton, Everton will play Fulham, and Sheffield United will play Crystal Palace. By 5:30 p.m., Newcastle United will host Aston Villa at home.

There will be two thrilling matchups on Sunday. With all eyes on Spurs’ new manager Ange Postecoglou, who is famous for his dynamic style of play and his success in the Scottish and Japanese divisions, Tottenham Hotspur travels to Brentford.

Liverpool, who placed sixth last year, will take against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge at 4:30 p.m. Mauricio Pochettino is the current manager of the club.

Manchester United, who finished third last year, will not play their first home match against Wolverhampton Wanderers until Monday night.

This 2023–24 season is expected to be thrilling as always, with thrilling narrative games, revived rivalries, unexpected developments, and competition for points on the league table.

There will also be a lot of attention to how the high-priced additions perform and what type of outcomes new management produce. Declan Rice of England, Kai Havertz of Chelsea, and Jurrien Timber of Ajax Amsterdam were all acquired by Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal for approximately 200 million pounds.

Additionally, Jürgen Klopp lost Fabinho and captain Jordan Henderson to Saudi Arabia. However, the Liverpool manager still has some options at his disposal as he attempts to move past last year’s setbacks.

The players that left Chelsea, who placed 12th last season, included Ruben Lofus-Cheek, N’Golo Kante, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and many others.

The English Premier League season will be a compelling sight for football fans across the world because it will be full of drama, surprising outcomes, and unforgettable moments.

Therefore, the beginning of a new Premier League season is always a thrilling moment in the world of football, whether you’re a die-hard supporter or a casual spectator.

So, let the games begin!
