President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet was expected to include several senior members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, but they were noticeably absent from the list of ministers released on Thursday.
The list was given to the senate by the presidency during plenary on Thursday, as Metrowatchxtra.com had earlier reported. The Senate President, Goodwill Akpabio, read the list.
The list was sent to Akpabio by Femi Gbajabiamila, a former House of Representatives speaker who is currently the president’s chief of staff.
Abdullahi Ganduje, a former governor of Kano State, and other party heavyweights who supported Tinubu’s victory in the February 25 presidential election were not nominated, in spite of rumors to the contrary.
The much anticipated list also lacked the names of former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode, former labor and employment minister Festus Keyamo, and other party chieftains.
The list also dispelled rumors that President Tinubu’s Benue State ministry nominee will come from the Benue South Senatorial constituency.
There were some names missing from the list that had previously been rumored to be state nominees.
However, other nominees could show up later, according to Tinubu’s letter to the Senate.
