Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Imo State, said on Tuesday that the Supreme Court’s decision in Osun State was a triumph for democracy and that the PDP will regain all of its lost mandates from the court.

Anyanwu said in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Owerri by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Ikenna Onuoha, that the unpopular APC administration believes that manipulating electoral procedures is the only way to keep power.

He went on to say that the innovations in the 2022 electoral Act, such as the use of BVAS for accreditation and real-time transmission of election results from polling stations, are helping to put a stop to their illegal operations.

While applauding Governor Adeleke and the people of Osun State, Anyanwu urged the judiciary to continue dispensing justice without fear or favor in order to keep Nigeria’s democracy alive.

Remember that the Supreme Court maintained the March 25 verdict of the Court of Appeal in Abuja, which had previously sustained Adeleke’s triumph.

The Appeal Court overturned an earlier decision by the Osun Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which had ruled in favor of Oyetola and fired Adeleke.
