Nigerian Senate, Defection Continues! APC, PDP Lose Two Senators to NNPP, LP

The Senate Public Accounts Committee has questioned the State House and 557 ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) about the N969 billion in “intangible assets” that was not accounted for in the 2019 budget.

A report by The PUNCH said that the discovery was made in the 2019 annual report of the Auditor-General of the Federation.

While deliberating on the report, members of the committee, led by its vice-chairman, Senator Ibrahim Hadeija, bemoaned the massive amount classified as ‘intangible assets’.

The report noted that the State House; the Bureau of Public Enterprises; the Bureau of Public Procurement; the National Population Commission; the Federal College of Forestry, Ibadan; the Federal College of Forestry, Jos; the National Orientation Agency; the Bureau of Public Service Reforms; and the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudili, were among the 558 outfits.

Also questioned were the Federal Civil Service Commission; Office of the National Security Adviser; Federal Ministry of Interior; Nigeria Immigration Service; Federal Fire Service; Police Formation and Command; Headquarters, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps; Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation; Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board; Federal Training Center, Ilorin; Office of the Economic Adviser to the President and the National Broadcasting Commission; among others.
