Delta State Governor-elect and Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, yesterday said he will only yield to God’s leading and directions in the appointment and constitution of his cabinet.
This according to the Governor-elect is to avoid unnecessary mistake and thus; ensure that God take the leading role in the affairs of the State under his watch as Governor come May 29, this year.
Rt. Hon. Oborevwori stated this in Asaba, the State capital, while playing host to College of Permanent Secretaries in the State who were at the State Assembly complex on a congratulatory visit .
The Governor-elect, while receiving the Permanent Secretaries who were led on the courtesy visit by the State Head of Service, Mr. Reginald Bayoko, said that his administration would centred on servant-leader policy as soon as he takes over the mantle of leadership in the State come May 29.
He said, ” I have said it repeatedly that I want to be Gôvernor for all, I want to serve the the people and I want to be a servant leader.
”It doesn’t mean that if you didn’t support me, we cannot work together. I’m coming to serve the people of the Delta state, whether you are close to me or not. ”
He commended the Head of Service as well as the Permanent Secretaries and civil servants for their support towards his victory at the poll just as he urged them to sustain their support.
”for me to succeed, you people have great role to play.
”You must not be close to me for you to do your work. The policies of the state will be driven by you people.
” I need your cooperation. If you are doing well, I will be doing well and if you are not doing well that means I will also not be doing well. I know that we will do well in Jesus name.
”And I will be transparent in all that is needed to do the work by the grace of God.”
”you would recall that during my electioneering process, i made promises to civi servants and I will fulfill those promises. I am a promise keeper,” he said.
Earlier, the State Head of Service, Mr Reginald Bayoko who led the delegation said that the essence of the visit was to felicitate with the governor-elect on his victory at the poll.
Bayoko while commendinh the governor-elect for his leadership role as Speaker of the State House of Assembly for the past six years, said, ” for six years in the Assembly, you have been able to maintain harmony with your colleagues and the staff of the Assembly.
He assured the governor-elect of their support and loyalty in driving the policies of the state government.
”As civil servants, we are not meant to be seen, we are meant to be heard by our leaders and that bus part of the fundamental code as civil servants,” he said.
