Governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Enugu, Chijioke Edeoga, has taken an early lead over his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, Peter Mbah, in the Saturday’s gubernatorial election.

Edeoga is leading with 436 votes from the results of eight local government areas in the state so far declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday.

Both Mbah and Edeoga are winning four LGAs each.

Their main challengers, Uche Nnaji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Frank Nweke of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) are yet to win any local government.

The PDP won Aninri, Ezeagu, Uzo-Uwani and Udi local government areas while LP took Igbo-Etiti, Igboeze North, Isi-Uzo and Oji River LGAs.
