The very first elected female Senator in Nigeria, from Edo State, Franca Afegbua, is dead.
Her demise was announced by the Afegbua Family in a statement issued on Sunday.
metrowatchxtra.com gathered that Senator Afegbua died in the early hours of Sunday at 79.
Describing the deceased as a woman who combined beauty and brain during her service to Nigeria, the Family noted that funeral details would be announced soon.
Afegbua was a native of Okpella in Etsako-East Local Government Area of old Bendel (now Edo state), and served as a senator under the defunct Bendel-North in 1983, in the defunct second republic
