Enugu Guber: Aisha Yesufu Disagrees with Obi on LP, backs APGA Candidate

Aisha Yesufu, a staunch supporter of Mr. Peter Obi, Labour Party (LP) candidate in the recently concluded February 25, 2023 presidential election, has openly disagreed with the former Anambra governor over his choice of gubernatorial candidate in Enugu State.

metrowatchxtra reports that Obi, in a series of tweets on his verified Twitter handle, had charged his supporters, otherwise known as OBIdients, to vote all LP candidates across the federation in the forthcoming March 18 governorship and state house of assembly elections.

But, Aisha, a member of the OBIdient movement and popular socio-political activist, disagreed with Obi in her response to his tweet, declaring support for candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Frank Nweke, instead.

The tweet has since gone viral, with members of the opposition political parties, especially supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), mocking the OBIdient movement over the open disagreement between Obi and Aisha.

Justifying her actions, however, Aisha, in a series of tweets on her verified Twitter handle, said she had been campaigning for the APGA gubernatorial candidate in Enugu even before she joined the OBIdient movement.

She wrote, “So the Frank Nweke Jnr I have been talking about since himself and Peter Obi were in PDP I should abandon because he happened to pick a different party.

“Anyway, I didn’t support Peter Obi because he was in Labour. I supported Peter Obi because he was competent.

“I started campaigning for Frank Nweke Jnr even before I started campaigning for Peter Obi. Many didn’t pay attention. It is now that Labour Party is the reigning party that my campaign for @FrankNwekeII became an issue. I am not a person of long throat! I build not wait to eat!”

Meanwhile, Mr. Peter Obi has directed all OBIdients in Enugu State to vote for the LP gubernatorial candidate, Barr. Chijioke Edeoga, in the forthcoming Saturday, March 18, 2023 governorship election.
