Train/Bus Accident: Obaseki Condoles with Sanwo-Olu, Victims’ Families

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has commiserated with his Lagos State counterpart, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the people of Lagos State over the fatal train accident in PWD, Oshodi area of the state.

In a statement on Friday, Obaseki described the accident as unfortunate and sad, praying for the repose of souls of the deceased and quick recovery for the injured.

According to him, “We are saddened by the news of the accident involving a train and the staff bus of the Lagos State Government in the Oshodi area of the state. It is unfortunate and sad.

“Our prayers are with the families of the deceased. We pray that God will grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. We also pray for quick recovery of those who suffered injuries in the sad incident.”

“I extend the condolences of the government and people of Edo State to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo Olu, the families of the deceased and citizens of Lagos State, and pray that God grants repose to the soul of the departed.”

metrowatchxtra.com reports that a moving train and a Lagos state government staff bus conveying workers to their work places collided on Thursday morning, killing about six persons and leaving many injured.

The crashed marcopolo bus with registration number 04A-48LA conveyed 85 passengers out of which six were confirmed dead, with the remaining 79 occupants who sustained varying degrees of injuries rescued and presently receiving treatment at the hospital.

Governor Sanwo-Olu Thursday night declared three days mourning of the victims of the accident, and directed all national flags in the state to be flown at half-mast, while workers are to observe a half day of work today(Friday).
