Following Thursday’s crash involving a train and a bus that left scores dead and many injured in Lagos, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced the suspension of his re-election political campaigns.

Sanwo-Olu also approved and directed that all national flags be flown at half-mast and workers in the state are to observe half day of work on Friday(tomorrow) to mourn the victims of the train crash.

The Governor’s directive was contained in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, as seen on his verified Twitter handle, Thursday evening.

“Breaking: Gov @jidesanwoolu suspends campaigns, enjoins others to show the true spirit of Lagos. He thanks all medical personnel and other officials who responded promptly to the incident.

“Gov directs flags be flown at half mast and workers to observe a half day of work tomorrow,” the tweet read.

Six persons were confirmed dead with 79 injured after a passenger train ran into a Lagos government staff bus conveying 85 passengers on its way to the state secretariat, Alausa, at the PWD area of Ikeja on Thursday morning.
