Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has been re-elected for a second term to represent the people of Abia North in the National Assembly (Senate).
Kalu was declared winner of the Abia-North Senatorial elections held on Saturday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), early Monday morning.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) senator polled a total of 30,805 votes to defeat his closest rivals, Mao Ohuabunwa of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 15,175 votes; and Nnamdi Iroh of the Labour Party, who polled 25,540 votes.
