BREAKING: Peter Obi defeats Tinubu to win Lagos

Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the Saturday’s presidential election, Mr. Peter Obi, has defeated his All Progressives Congres (APC) rival, Bola Tinubu in his(Tinubu’s) Lagos home state.

Though APC’s Tinubu won more local government areas in the poll, LP’s Obi defeated the former Lagos governor with the majority of the valid votes cast.

Out of the 20 local government areas in Lagos, Tinubu won in 11: Agege, Apapa, Badagry, Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Ifako-Ijaiye, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, Surulere and Mushin.

While Obi won in nine local governments: Eti-Osa, Amuwo Odofin, Ikeja, Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Kosofe, Oshodi-Isolo, Alimosho, Ojo and Somolu.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Obi polled a total of 582,664 valid votes to defeat the “Lagos landlord”, Tinubu, who scored 541,850 votes.
