Court remands popular Lagos auto dealer, IVD over wife’s death

IVD

Ikechukwu Ogbona, also known as IVD, a well-known celebrity vehicle dealer, has been remanded by the Lagos State Magistrates Court in connection with the death of his wife, Bimbo Ogbonna.

Ogbonna was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the ruling by sitting Magistrate Adebayo Kafayat, who did so on the recommendation of the State Director of Public Prosecution, DPP.

Adebayo stated that the defendant should be arraigned before the High Court after reading out the DPP’s recommendation. Ikechukwu was held in detention as a result while an information was filed against him by the court.

Abubakar Yesufu, the defense attorney, asked the court to release IVD based on the prior bail restrictions that were imposed on him. However, the Magistrate ruled that in the event of involuntary manslaughter, she lacked jurisdiction. Therefore, the high court should be consulted for all bail petitions. But she postponed the matter until March 7th, 2023.

Remember that Bimbo passed away on October 15, 2022, from burns she received as a consequence of a fire that broke out in their Megamound Estate house due to fighting.
