Seventeen persons have perished from fresh outbreak of Cholera in Gwoza council area in Borno state.
Ministry sources told health partners that the infection has ravaged about 5 communities in Gwoza council area killing 17 people as at Monday evening.
The dead according to council sources includes some defected insurgent Boko Haram members who were moved out of Maiduguri to their home town Gwoza.
The badly affected Communities are:
“GSS Gwoza IDP Camp, 20 Housing Unit settlement, Gwoza Wakane Communities, Tashan Damboa, Anguwan Asibiti location and it’s environs..
Director of public health, Dr Abba Goni said that ministry of health in conjunction with partners have stepped up their acts in Gwoza to ensure that the diarrhea and vomiting is reduced among the people.
The source said that one of the returnees from Hajj Camp died during a recent trip to Gwoza from Hajj camp Maiduguri adding that they must have been the carriers of the disease to the town.
