Two new Presidents of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, were elected separately at the convention of the student body held in Abuja on Saturday.
The development has since thrown the association which prides itself as the national body of Nigerian students studying in Nigeria and in Diaspora into crisis.
While one Umar Lawal of the Department of Library and Information Science of the Bayero University, Kano was first announced President, Usman Umar Barambu of the Federal University, Dutse, equally emerged as one.
According to reports, controversies had rocked the association following internal tussles which led to the postponement of the elections earlier slated for last Saturday.
Despite moves for reconciliations, elections were held in two different locations in Abuja which led to the emergence of the two factional presidents.
But the outgoing President, Mr. Sunday Asefon has since congratulated Usman Umar Barambu as the rightfully elected President and successor.
