All 300 Jordan/Israel-bound Delta State contingent of the 2021/2022 pilgrims to the Holy Lands, Tuesday arrived safely in Amman, the Jordan capital and TelAviv in Israel
The pilgrims who were ferried to the Holy Lands via a Boeing 777, touched down at the famous Queen Alia International Airport at about 4:38 am (Nigerian time) having departed Port Harcourt International Airport barely five hours earlier at 11:07 pm (Nigerian time)
At the International Airport, jubilation and thanksgiving rented the air as the pilgrims who were all in high spirit, thanked God for the safe trip to the Holy Lands.
However, while the Jordan-bound pilgrims disembarked at Amman, their Israel-bound counterparts continued via same flight enroute TelAviv.
The Pilgrims who have since commenced tour of some of the religious sites in both countries are already sharing their experiences even as they expressed appreciation to the Delta State Government for the privilege.
Underscoring the import of the exercise to her Christian life, one of the pilgrims, Mrs. Franca Ogor, said that the exercise would go a long way in broadening her understanding about events recorded in the Bible.
According to her, the Pilgrimage would afford her the privilege of visiting some Holy sites such as the birth place of Jesus, the wailing wall, the church of Nativity, among others.
She commended the Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, for what she described as the governor’s consistency in sponsoring the programme irrespective of the daunting economic challenge.
Another pilgrim, Bishop Victor Okporu, while expressing optimism that the exercise would help in sharpening his understanding of the Bible, said, “this exercise will help to bring alive those things I have been reading in the Bible.
Bishop Okporu who is currently the Bishop, Western Liaison District, Anglican Communion, enjoined other pilgrims to justify the state government’s gesture by making good use of the exercise to enrich their knowledge and understanding of the Bible.
It would be recalled that the Delta contingent departed Asaba, the Delta State capital to the Holy land through the Port Harcourt International Airport on Monday, August 8.
