The Director-General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Muhammad Fadah, has commiserated with the family of Chiwendu Alago, a corps member who died recently in Bayelsa State.

Farah’s condolence was contained in a statement issued by the NYSC spokesperson, Eddy Megwa, on Saturday in Abuja.

The statement said the NYSC DG visited the deceased’s family residence in Umuahia, the Abia state capital.

According to him, Ms Alago, an indigene of Umudim Ngodo Isuochi, in Umunneochie local government area, was a serving corps member in Bayelsa.

The statement added that Mr Fadah urged the family to take solace in God while he prayed that God should grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.

“The corps member died when her services were needed to contribute to national development”, stated the NYSC DG.

“Kindly accept our condolences on behalf of the NYSC family,” Mr Fadah added.

Speaking on behalf of the family, the elder brother of the deceased, Chidera Alago, thanked the NYSC boss for standing by the family.

metrowatchxtra recalls that the late corps member Alago drowned in a boat mishap in Bayelsa State, in June.

The boat accident was reportedly caused by bad weather, poor visibility and lack of life jackets for the passengers.

The deceased corps member was laid to rest in her hometown in Abia State on June 23. Two days later, her mother, who passed on earlier, was laid to rest.
