The main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has returned to power in Osun State after the 12 years, with his candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke winning the Saturday’s gubernatorial election.

metrowatchxtra reports that Adeleke won 17 out of the 30 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the exercise, while his closest rival and incumbent Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, won in 13.

The PDP candidate polled a total of 402,979 votes to defeat Governor Oyetola who garnered 375, 077 votes.

In the Saturday’s exercise, monitored by metrowatchxtra, the incumbent Governor failed to win the state capital and the Government House, Osogbo polling units.

Interestingly, the election is a repeat of 2018 where both candidates contested. Oyetola only managed to win with a slim margin after a fresh poll was ordered in few disputed LGAs, after the poll was declared inconclusive.
