•NEF spokesman, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed

Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), has said 90 percent of Nigerian governors have no business being anywhere near power.

Speaking at the 19th Daily Trust Dialogue in Abuja, Baba Ahmed said his submission was based on the fact that “they don’t have the preparation, the background, the the competencies to govern”.

He said we have the wrong people wielding power over people that are desperate for new and effective leadership a development that was not good enough.

He then called for the restructuring of the country, saying “what we really need to do is put the federal system on on the table and ask what is wrong?

“What is it that makes it impossible to reduce the powers or to regulate the powers of governance, restructure the country but this is a word that is anathema to a lot of people in power today.”
