Nollywood star Funke Akindele was on Tuesday formally unveiled as running mate to the Lagos Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Dr. Abdulaziz Olajide Adediran alias Jandor.
metrowatchxtra had recently reported the emergence of Funke Akindele as the Lagos PDP Deputy Governorship candidate ahead of next year’s election, amid crash of her marriage to JJC Skillz.
Akindele, popularly called ‘Jenifa’, beat four other contestants to emerge winner including ex-guber aspirant, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour; ex-Lagos East Senatorial candidate, Yeye Shobajo; ex-guber aspirant, David Kolawole and Engr. Teslim Balogun.
Meanwhile, the Lagos PDP standard bearer Jandor formally announced Akindele as his running mate via a video clip making the rounds on Tuesday.
He said ‘Jenifa’ is from Ikorodu and Lagos East Senatorial District like the incumbent Deputy Governor and has the overwhelming popularity to garner votes.
Akindele also confirmed the nomination, saying she would work assiduously for the party and for Lagos to have a breath of fresh air.
