Governorship candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has cleared 15 out of 16 Local Government Areas of the state in the Saturday’s gubernatorial election.
From the results declared so far by INEC,
Oyebanji won in Ijero, Emure, Ekiti Southwest, Ikere, Ekiti east, Gboyin, Ikole, Ado Ekiti, Ise/Orun, Ido Osi, Oye, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Ekiti West, Efon Alaye, Moba and Ilejemeje LGAs.
In Ijero LGA, the APC candidate polled 13, 754 votes, SDP’s Segun Oni garnered 5006 votes, while PDP‘s Bisi Kolawole came distant third with 4,897 votes.
The results in Emure LGA uploaded on the INEC portal showed that the APC candidate scored 7728 votes against SDP Segun Oni’s 3446, while PDP’s Bisi Kolawole polled 2610.
In Ekiti Southwest LGA, Oyebanji of the APC garnered 9679 votes, while SDP’s Segun Oni scored 4577 votes and PDP’s Bisi Kolawole polled 4475 votes.
For Ikere LGA, the APC candidate polled 12,089 botes, while his SDP counterpart garnered 1947 votes and PDP got 3789 votes.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Bisi Kolawole was announced winner in Efon Alaye LGA, while Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) failed to win a single LGA.
Ekiti has 16 local government areas. To be validly elected, the winner must poll the highest votes and have at least a quarter of the votes in each of at least 11 LGAs.

SDP: 74,217
The final results and the winner of the election is expected to be announced soon at the state collation centre in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
