Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has debunked reports making the rounds that he was involved in an auto crash early Monday morning, in Abuja.
There were reports that the vice president was involved in an auto crash along the Abuja Airport road, and that rescuers were trying to pull the VP out from the vehicle.
The APC presidential aspirant was said to be on his way to Owo, Ondo state for a condolence visit over Sunday’s massacre of Catholic worshippers when the accident occurred.
But reacting to the story, an aide to the vice president, Laolu Akande, said the VP only stopped to attend to accident victims on the road and was not involved in one.
Akande wrote: “On his way to the airport this morning, VP came across a road traffic accident, stopped to lend assistance, & ensured victim was taken to the hospital with VP’s convoy ambulance. He then proceeded on his trip and is now in Ondo State heading to site of yesterday’s attack in Owo.”
Revealing that the accident occurred less than two hours ago, the VP’s aide added: “VP’s medical and security teams quickly intervened removing the victim from the crushed car which somersaulted on the opposite side of the road and got stuck on a tree. Victim now moved to an hospital.”
