The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has extended the deadline for political parties to conduct their primaries for the 2023 general elections.
INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, announced this in a statement on Friday in Abuja.
Initially, political parties were to conclude their primaries latest June 3rd. But with the six-day lifeline, parties now have until June 9th to conclude the exercise.
Okoye said the extension is to allow parties conclude outstanding primaries and prepare to upload the list of candidates and their affidavits on the INEC Candidates Nomination Portal.
