Philippine Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday announced that she will bid for the presidency in 2028.
Duterte formally confirmed her plans to seek the country’s highest post at a news conference.
She is the first to make public plans to run for president of the Philippines.
Duterte, daughter of former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, said her prospective campaign would focus on strengthening families, promoting faith-based values and ensuring responsive governance.
She is the third female vice president, the third vice president to come from Mindanao, and the youngest ever Philippine. (Xinhua/NAN)
