Friday has been declared a work-free day in Anambra.

This is as the State government officially declared Friday, November 7, 2025, a work-free day for all civil servants.

This directive is effective immediately and is intended to precede the crucial governorship election scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025, in the state.

This information was formally communicated in a statement issued by the Head of Service (HOS), Mrs. Theodora Igwegbe, on Thursday, November 6.

The HOS confirmed that the work-free day was approved by Governor Chukwuma Soludo with the primary purpose of enabling civil servants to travel to their respective locations to fully participate in the upcoming election.

Mrs. Igwegbe emphasized that this action is designed to encourage the active participation of the state’s workforce in the electoral process, describing voting as a vital civic duty and an essential contribution to good governance and democracy.
