The Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has released a statement on X, explaining her visit to President Bola Tinubu.

This is coming after she received serious backlash for saying that Nigeria’s economy has been stabilized by President Tinubu.

In a post on X, she stated that in Abuja, Nigeria, she stated that she discussed Nigeria’s economy with Tinubu and the need to build more social safety nets to cushion the effects of hardship and hunger in the country.

She also explained in her tweet that Nigerians were experiencing hardship from the reforms and putting in place more programs to help people, especially poor and vulnerable people manage the hardship, was very important.
