A tanker transporting 15,000 litres of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) has overturned in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

Daily Post reports that the incident occurred at Toll-Gate Area, Ibadan/Ife Expressway in Ibadan.

The tanker reportedly lost control whilst in motion and swerved off the road.

It was learnt that the accident was due to lack of absolute concentration on the part of the driver.

The incident led to traffic gridlock in the area.

Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande confirmed the incident to Daily Post in a statement, saying, no life was lost.

“The incident was reported at exactly 20:11hrs on Wednesday 25th June, 2025. The agency’s personnel led by CFS Adedeji swiftly responded to the emergency call. On arrival, we met a fallen MAN trailer tanker with registration number EPE299XN (LAGOS) of 15,000litres capacity loaded with Automotive Gas Oil (AGO). It lost control whilst in motion and swerved to the road side, content gushing out.

“We quickly covered the spillage with chemical foam compound to neutralize the flame of the liquid which can trigger naked fire from close or far place.
