Roseline Agbonlahor, Matriarch of Igbinedion Family of Oligie-Igbanke, Dies at 95

Mrs Roseline Agbonlahor, matriarch of the famous Oghai Igbinedion family of Oligie-Igbanke, Orhionmwon Local Government Area, Edo State, has gone to rest in the Lord. She was aged 95 years.

In a statement, her eldest son, Barrister Joseph Igbinedion, said his late mother was a devout Christian and philanthropist.

He also said the deceased died on Sunday, October 20, 2024, in a brief illness.

The statement: “The Igbinedion family of Igbanke in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State has announced the death of its matriarch, Mrs Rosaline Agbonlahor Igbinedion (nee Aisagbonhin).

“In her prime, she was a nurse at the Igbanke General Hospital, Igbanke. On retirement, she went into catering business, which she pursued with an unmatched

“The late Mrs Igbinedion was renowned for her philanthropic activities, social engagements, love for education and humanity, peace building capacity and commitment to progressive ideologies.

“She was an ardent Christian all through her life and a practicing Anglican who faithfully participated in the programmes of the Church both at the local congregation in Oligie, Igbanke and beyond.

“Left to mourn her departure are: barrister Joseph Igbinedion, who is the first Head of department of Mass Communication at Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, and later joined the United Nations in Nairobi, Kenya; Ms Lucy Igbinedion, a teacher; Mr Duke Igbinedion, a renowned sculptor and Mr Augustine Igbinedion, among others.

 

 

“She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, aunties and uncles.

“Burial arrangement will be announced by the family in due course.”
