Liverpool winger, Mohamed Salah, on Saturday set a new Premier League record as he surpassed the likes of Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney, and Alan Shearer after scoring a goal against Ipswich Town.
Salah registered an assist and also scored a goal as Liverpool defeated Ipswich Town 2-0 in their Premier League opener at Portman Road.
The goal against Ipswich Town was Salah’s ninth goal on the opening day of the Premier League.
It took the Egyptian past Lampard, Rooney and Shearer – all with a total of eight match-day 1 goals during their respective careers, AS reports.
The eight seasons that Salah has spent at Anfield, he has scored on the first game of the league in seven.
The only time the 32-year-old failed to do so was last season’s opener against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
