The Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Phillip Shaibu, has expressed deep sadness over the passing of the senator representing Anambra South senatorial district, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah.
Ubah, owner of FC Ifeanyi Ubah, died on Saturday in faraway London at age 52.
In a condolence message he personally signed, Shaibu described Ubah as a visionary leader and passionate football enthusiast, who invested in Nigeria’s football future, empowering the youth and growing the game.
He said his demise leaves a void in the hearts of many but noted that Ubah’s legacy continues to inspire and uplift many, while mourning his loss alongside the entire sports community.
The Deputy Governor condoled the Senate, leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Anambra South senatorial district, Government and people of Anambra State, and all lovers of sports.
“Senator Ubah’s impact on Nigerian football is immeasurable. His effort in investing hugely in FC Ifeanyi Ubah, which played in the prestigious CAF Confederation Cup in 2017, is historical and will forever remain in the hearts of many Nigerian football lovers. His dedication to sports was unwavering,” Shaibu noted.
“May his memory be a blessing to us all, and may his legacy continue to inspire and motivate us to invest in our youth and our country.
“Rest in peace, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Ubah. Your contributions to Nigerian football will never be forgotten.”
