The last may not have been heard on the governorship primary election conducted in Edo State on Saturday, February 17, 2024 by All Progressives Congress (APC) as the result sheet of the exercise shows that Senator Monday Okpebholo (Edo Central) scored 12, 145 votes to beat Hon Dennis Idahosa, who polled 5, 536 votes.
For emphasis, Hon Idahosa, according to result sheet, came second behind Senator Monday Okpebholo, who scored the highest number of votes cast, 12,145, and duly declared winner by the Chief Returning Officer, Dr. Ugboaja Stanley.
The document, signed by the State Chief Electoral Officer/Returning Officer, Dr. Ugboaja Stanley U, reads: “This is to certify that SENATOR MONDAY OKPEBHOLO, having scored the highest number of votes cast, is hereby declared winner.
The result sheet also shows the scores of 10 aspirants as follows:
*Dr. B. Aigbanhere 834 votes
*Gen C. Airhiavhere 919 votes
*Sen O. Osunbor 688 votes
*Col david Imuse 507 votes
*Ernest Umakhihe 2,090 votes
*Gideon Ikhine 902 votes
*Osagies Ize-Iyamu 382 votes
*Anamero S. Dekeri 1,624 votes
*Agba c. Ikanade 3, 756 votes
*Lucky Imasuen 503. votes
The result sheet also show that 44, 381 voters were accredited for the exercise. It added that the total number of votes cast stand at 29,881, while there were no invalid votes.
