Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has arrested men riding motorbikes plying one-way along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
The governor was on his way to the inauguration of the Femi Gbajabiamila Conference Centre at the Ojo campus of Lagos State University, LASU, when the incident occurred on Tuesday.
Sanwo-Olu was seen in a now-viral video on the internet jumping down from his vehicle alongside his security aides to effect the arrest of the offending officer and others.
Sharing the clip on his official X, the governor’s media aide, Wale Ajetunmobi, wrote, “Governor Sanwo-Olu effecting the arrest of the offending officer.”
While being taken away by security operatives, Sanwo-Olu said, “Put him there, let your father come and rescue you.”
One of the offenders who claimed to be a soldier replied, “I am a soldier, Oga sir.”
In response, Sanwo-Olu said: “That’s the more reason I’m going to lock you up. You are telling me you are a soldier. Useless boy. You are telling me you are a soldier. Lock him up.”
