PHOTOS | Lagos Begins Clean-up of Silt to Prevent Flooding | METROWATCH

Officials of the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources have commenced the clean-up of silt and clearing of drainages to prevent flooding in different locations in the state.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of the Environment, Kunle Adeshina, disclosed this in photos shared on his X handle on Thursday.

According to him, officials of the Emergency Flood Abatement Gang were also involved in the process.

 

Some of the areas where the operation was carried out include Lewis, Sandgrouse, and Bamgbose streets on Lagos Island; Dodan Barracks Obalende; Adeniji Adele Road, Oroyinyin, and Bombata Street on Lagos Island; and Elere Markaz Awori Collector Drain in Agege.

His caption read, “Cleaning and evacuation of silt continued on Thursday at Lewis, Sandgrouse, and Bamgbose streets in Lagos Island, courtesy of MOE&WR.

“Operatives of the Emergency Flood Abatement Gang at work on Thursday, desilting Itapeju road Collector Apapa to prevent flooding.

“Evacuation of silt continues Thursday at Adeniji Adele road, Oroyinyin and Bombata street on Lagos Island as part of deflooding measures courtesy of MOE&WR.”
