President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday approved N35,000 provisional wage award for all Federal Government workers.

All treasury-paid federal government workers will receive the payment for a period of six months.

The decision was reached following further consultations with the Federal Government delegation that met with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, earlier on Sunday.

In a statement signed by Mallam Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, the government further highlighted the outcome of the meeting with the Organised Labour where it called on the Labour unions not to embark on strike, insisting that issues in dispute can only be resolved when workers are at work.

The NLC and TUC are said to be considering the offers by the government with a view to suspending the planned strike.
