The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) has declared that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was right to return the second respondent, Bola Tinubu as duly elected by the majority of lawful votes case.
The tribunal in its ruling on Wednesday in Abuja held that the petitioner (Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party) has not successfully proved the allegations of Tinubu not polling majority lawful votes cast and indeed all the grounds in their petition.
“This petition accordingly lacks merit. I affirm the return of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the duly elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The parties are to bear their cost,” the court held.
