Former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha has openly endorsed the second term bid of his formerly estranged successor, Governor Hope Uzodimma in the November 11 governorship election.
Okorocha who represented Imo West in the 9th Senate described Uzodimma as “a worthy party man who has promoted the progressive ideals of the party in his administration of Imo State affairs and other national assignments.”
“As such, Governor Uzodimma deserves all the support he needs and I will work for his victory,” Okorocha noted.
The endorsement comes barely 24 hours after Okorocha and Uzodinma who were hitherto political rivals set aside their differences after meeting with the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Umar Ganduje on Thursday at the Aso Villa, in Abuja.
It also comes barely hours after Okorocha’s son-in-law and former governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in the 2019 Imo governorship election, Uche Nwosu, endorsed Uzodimma for re-election.
Okorocha has been having a running battle with his successor, Uzodimma with the Imo state panel of inquiry set up by the latter indicting the former of forceful takeover of land belonging to the Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education (AIFCE).
