Eid el-Kabir

The So-Safe Corps in Ogun State has warned Muslims not to allow beggars within their praying grounds during Wednesday’s Eid el-Kabir festival.

This is as the security outfit assured Ogun residents and visitors of the utmost security of both lives and properties before, during, and after the yearly Muslim ceremony.

The directive, from the commander of the corps, Soji Ganzallo, was contained in a statement released on Monday and made available to reporters.

The statement, signed by So-Safe Corps spokesman Moruf Yusuf, warned: “No beggars should be allowed within and outside the Eid praying grounds, as such may pose security threats to the worshippers.”

Ganzallo instructed all zonal, area commanders, and special squads of the agency to work with the Nigeria Police Force in their various commands “to jointly actualise the excellent community policing project embarked upon by the incumbent Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.”

He directed his men to ensure Ogun communities are secured and the people are safe wherever they go during and after the festival.

The So-Safe boss ordered all Eid grounds in the state to be properly monitored when prayer is ongoing and advised imams to remind the worshippers that only in an atmosphere of love and tolerance for one another can peace flourish.
